CPU Heat Transfer PDF Print E-mail
CPU Heatsinks need to do one thing: Transfer heat away from the CPU. In order to do this they MUST have a good mechanical contact with the processor. Heatsinks come with a self-adheasive rubber pad which is adequet for most installations.  We however prefer to remove this pad and replace it with heat transfer paste or grease. We feel that the paste lasts years longer than the rubber pad and does a better job.  You can pick up a small tube of the paste at CompUSA, TigerDirect or any good PC store.
